What We do and Why it Works

Deep Tissue

Deep Tissue Massage works to relieve tension within the deeper layers of your muscular tissue, helps create muscles that are more flexible and supple by increasing range of motion. It is wonderful for chronic pain that is muscular in origin.

Ashiatsu

Ashiatsu is a barefoot massage technique in which the therapist delivers deep, broad, consistent pressure while utilizing their feet and body weight. Working with gravity, Ashiatsu provides effective deep tissue therapeutic massage with little discomfort.

Therapeutic Lomi Lomi Massage

The healing art of Hawaiian Lomi Lomi incorporates rhythmic movements and long forearm strokes that soothe from light to deep to realign the body, improve circulation and induce overall well-being. Advanced techniques bring relief to chronic and acute pain with lasting benefits by bringing the bones into alignment.

Myofascial Release

Myofascial Release focuses on relieving pain in your myofascial tissue; the thick connective tissue that supports your muscles. Your practitioner spends time feeling for areas of myofascial tissue that are restricted and using their hands or a tool will work to separate the tension in the fascia decreasing pain and increasing range or motion as a result.

Trigger Point

Trigger Point Therapy targets areas of the muscles that have contracted to form small fibrous nodules that when active are tender to touch and at times refer pain to other areas of the body. By applying direct pressure and working with the breath, the trigger point can be relieved and at times provide instant relief.

Cupping

Cupping is an ancient healing tradition. Suction cups are applied from 5-20 mins. The suction creates an increase of blood flow to tense or spasming muscle resulting in increased circulation to areas of muscle tension/spasms, a decrease in muscle pain and relaxation. Please note: cupping can leave behind areas of bruising, but are NOT painful like we associate with regular bruising. Mostly they are just aesthetically unappealing in appearance but cause no discomfort.

Swedish Massage

Designed to relax the body using a combination of long strokes, kneading, friction, tapping, percusion, vibration, effleurage, and shanking motions. It increases oxygen flow in the blood, helps eliminate toxins and has great stress relieving properties.

Gua Sha

A 2,000-year-old traditional Chinese medicine technique, Gua Sha uses a scraping tool to release the fascia layers from restriction, improves blood flow promoting healing and increases range of motion.

I have seen Gloria at Vida Massage for a massage every month for about 5 years. I can honestly say she has changed my life! I used to have awful tension in my shoulders that would give me a headache. Not anymore, thanks to Gloria! She has great hours, takes my insurance and is super talented. I wouldn't go anywhere else for massage.
